My favorite part of each day is driving to work on St. Baise. It is basically a one lane country road with trees on each side. In the Summer it is like driving through a tunnel. I listen to the traffic reports on the radio as I drive and am thankful that I am not in morning traffic on I-65. Occassionally there will be a little congestion on St. Blaise when someone's cow gets out.

Riley is creative. The bucket serves well as a helmet. This is one of the paintings entered in the Hendersonville Arts Society Spring Show which runs May 29- June 26 at the Monthaven Mansion.

My granddaughter has quite a flair for color. I see talent here.

This week-end I went back to Memphis for a 42nd high school reunion. We had dinner, a lunch and a tour of a garden and art gallery. This is my rendetion of touring the gardens. It was such a blast seeing everyone again. Most classmates I had not seen in over forty years. The conversations flowed like there had not been the time in between. Can you figure out who is who. Hint: I'm not in this one as I was taking the photo that inspired this sketch. I feel a series coming on.
This is the extent of my Spring Break painting -a pastel of a bridge on the Long Hollow Golf Course.

This is a bridge on the golf course. I worked on it for about 3 hours Friday night. I will probably paint it a few more times to get it right to teach in a Pastel Class that I am planning for May.

I have been working on the street scene for a couple of weeks. This is a commissioned painting for Sherry. I painted it on Wallis paper, a pastel paper and it was interesting to paint on. Color lifted off well, so I spent several weeks putting paint on and taking it off and then putting it back on. If I don't frame it soon I could spend another couple of weeks putting on paint and removing it again.

In the Monthaven class we are tackling painting people. I encouraged students to use photos of family members to inspire a painting. The trick is not to feel like you have to copy it exactly. I used a Christmas picture of Chayse serving Mr. Bear from her new tea set.
